The City Park is also home to the Columbia City Pool. The main pool is 30' x 80' with a depth ranging from 4' to 10'. Located next to the main pool is the smaller baby pool which ranges in depth from 1' to 3'. The pool is operated during the summer months and is under the supervision of Greg Thomas. Other than Mr. Thomas the city employees 5 life-guards trained and certified by American Red Cross in life-guarding, CPR and First-Aid.
The City Pool offers group swimming lessons throughout the summer and advertises dates and times in the local newspaper and on the local radio stations.
Rates for lessons are $35 per child per weekly session or $8 per day. Three days out of the week Water Aerobics are offered one hour before the pool opens.
Regular operating hours are Monday –Saturday 12:00 noon - 5:00 p.m. and Sunday 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. General Admission is $2.00 a day, children 3 and under is free with an accompanying adult. The pool is also rented to the public for private swimming parties after regular operating hours at a rate of $60 for 2 hours. Groups of 41 or more are charged at a rate of $75 for 2 hours.
During the past few years the pool has seen major improvements. A new vinyl liner and filtration system has been installed as well as a new diving board and stand, picnic tables and 12 chaise lounge chairs.
